This suite of resources enables classroom teachers to undertake integrated and progressive residentials that form part of the curriculum; they also allow senior leaders in schools to develop strategies that support ‘brilliant’ residentials.

If residentials are integrated with the curriculum and the wider life of the school they can have greater impact and provide many more learning opportunities.

Many of the Learning Away partnership schools integrated the learners’ existing curriculum into the trip, thus enriching the learning and justifying the time, effort and cost of going away.

Brilliant residentials should be progressive, children should build on the experiences and learning gained in their previous residential as they move on through the school.
